8	Personal Computers Windows 98 or Mac OS 8.x minimum. Windows ME or XP Home are not recommended. (see ResNet web site) 3COM, Netgear, or built-in (Dell, Gateway) network card required. No Modem connections allowed over phone lines. Repairs are responsibility of the student. Printers not supplied in the residence halls – can have your own personal printer. Files, central e-mail, library databases available from any point on or off campus. E-mail knowledge expected. Beware of very low-end computers. Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP is the campus standard. 9	Commuter Students Freshmen access to LAN storage from Labs or over the Internet. Public e-mail stations in Pennington Lounge and Jack’s Corner Access for Notebooks in Library & Lounge using wireless to all students. Register network card. GroupWise client to load on home computer or use through Web without any special software. Students leaving orientation will have a full account.
