| McAfee Virus Scan | |
| We are
moving from Cheyenne Anti-Virus software to McAfee Virus Scan. This
will run on all platforms we are currently supporting, including:
Windows 98, 2000, NT and XP. On Wednesday morning, 8/21,
you will be prompted with a window that says it is uninstalling the
old Cheyenne software. Just click on uninstall. (If you did not have
Cheyenne, you may receive an error message regarding the uninstall.
Just click OK). After a couple of minutes, you will notice a new
icon on the system tray in the lower right hand corner of your
screen. It is a red V on a shield. Your machines will automatically
be scanned daily, and continue to scan all active files. If you want
to initiate a manual virus scan, you can click on Start, Programs,
Network Associates, Virus Scan.
Regular updates will be pushed out via the network as before. You will be prompted with one screen explaining the update wizard. Just click on Next, and it will proceed with the upgrade. This software should provide better security against viruses and be easier to manage campus wide.
