Dr. Neil Boyd
Chair of Business Administration - Lycoming College
Special Interest: Large scale organization wide change, as well as smaller scale change that relates to organizational behavior and human resource management interventions.
Dr. Neil Boyd is an Associate Professor of Management in the Department of Business Administration at Lycoming College. His research examines organizational development and change issues with a primary focus in organizational behavior and human resource management in private sector, non-profit, public, and community organizations.
His work has appeared in a variety of publication outlets including the Organization Development Journal, Public Administration Quarterly, the Journal of Community Psychology, Administrative Theory and Praxis, and the Encyclopedia of Public Administration and Public Policy.
He currently sits on the editorial boards of Public Administration Quarterly, the Journal of Community Psychology, the International Journal of Organization Theory and Behavior, Public Administration & Management, the International Journal of Public Administration, the Journal of Health & Human Services Administration, and the Encyclopedia of Public Administration and Public Policy.
He was elected Division Chair for the Academy of Management Public and Non-Profit Division in 2010, and previously served the Academy of Management (PNP Division) as Program Chair and Pre-Conference Development Workshop Chair.
He is also the Chair of the Organization Studies Interest Group in the Society for Community Action and Research (Division 27 of the American Psychological Association).
He was the 2005 recipient of the James Jordan Award for Teaching Excellence, and the 2005 recipient of the Multicultural Excellence in Teaching Award while a professor at Penn State University. He has been recognized as a “Best Reviewer” in 2004 and 2005 by the Public and Non-Profit Division of the Academy.
He holds a PhD in Public Administration and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University, a Masters Degree in Experimental Psychology (with a focus in Industrial/Organizational Psychology) from the University of Notre Dame, and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Bloomsburg University.

Insider Info: Dr. Boyd played baseball for Bloomsburg University in the mid-80’s and he still loves baseball. He plays in an over-28 wood-bat league in Harrisburg. His son Matthew plays baseball at Susquehanna University and was a member of two state championship teams at Camp Hill High School (2008 and 2009). His daughter Anna is an avid color guard participant and loves playing the flute and trombone. Dr. Boyd is married to Victoria and they enjoy traveling, eating new culinary delights, theatre, art, and classic rock.
