FACULTY AND STAFF: Meet Mehrdad Madresehee

Professor and Chair of Economics
Director of the College's Institute for Management Studies

B.S. in Economics, University of Tehran
M.S. in Economics with High Honors, National University of Iran
M.S. in Economics, University of Idaho
Ph.D. in Economics, Washington State University

With over 23 years of teaching experience, from which 19 years have been at Lycoming College, Mehrdad teaches principles of economics and several advanced courses in his department. He was the 2003 recipient of the college's Cupp Plankernhorn Alumni Award for Faculty Teaching Excellence (Lycoming College's senior teaching award). In addition, he received the United Methodist Church's Exemplary Teaching Award in 2003.

Besides publishing several papers in scholarly and peer-reviewed journals, Madresehee has been a consultant and researcher for several Pennsylvania businesses as well as non-profit organizations. In spring of 2004, he was chosen to serve as part of the Faculty Fellow Internship Program. He was one of just two faculty members nationwide to be appointed by the Institute for Experimental Learning and the Association of American Colleges and Universities. He interned at the International Economic Development Council, an organization devoted to providing leadership and excellence in economic development.

Mehrdad is married to Fattaneh Homayoun-Mehr (another economist in the family) and together they have two grown-up daughters, Ladan and Leila. He enjoys hiking, bike riding and playing tennis-- though he should be considered an easy win.
