Lycoming College seeks candidates for the position of Student Life Coordinator / Assistant for Residential Education. The Student Life Coordinator, a professional member of the Student Life staff, is responsible for promoting a sense of community and an environment for personal growth within campus housing. This is accomplished through paraprofessional staff supervision and development, student and community development (including working with learning communities and special interest housing in their assigned area), fostering and forming healthy relationships, administrative and operational responsibilities, a collateral assignment as Assistant for Residential Education, and other general responsibilities. As Assistant for Residential Education, the staff member will coordinate Resident Assistant selection, training and recognition, assist in the development and administration of an assessment plan, monitor and coordinate departmental programming and supervise the May Term Resident Assistant.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in student personnel or related field preferred. Previous residence life, student leadership or other related experience required as well as a keen understanding of student development theory. Abilities required include computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.), demonstrated professionalism and ability to foster a positive work/learning environment; effective organizational and time management skills; effective interpersonal skills (listening, verbal/non-verbal and written communication skills), and effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Working environment requires walking, ascending and descending stairways; certain job tasks may require shifting/moving work-related materials, supplies and equipment (up to 30 lbs.), bending and reaching; administrative tasks require sitting for extended periods of time and working on a computer.
REMUNERATION: Competitive salary, full College benefits, a furnished apartment with utilities and meals (while food service is in operation). This is an 11-month, live-in position.
