Position Summary:

Lycoming College seeks candidates for the position of Student Life Coordinator.  The Student Life Coordinator (SLC), a professional member of the Student Life staff, is responsible for promoting a sense of community and an environment for personal growth within campus housing. This is accomplished through staff supervision and development, student and community development, educational programming, fostering and forming healthy relationships, administrative and operational responsibilities, and other general responsibilities. The SLC supervises 13 Resident Assistants and two traditional halls with a total capacity of 370 students. The SLC serves as one of the College’s Student Conduct Hearing Officers and is expected to educate students about College and Residential Life policies and procedures, standards for living within the community, and accountability for ones actions.  This position will be responsible for first year experience programming (FYRST), the first-year student living-learning community FYRST LEAP and New Student Orientation Staff.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Student Personnel or related field strongly preferred.  Previous Residential Life experience which included living-learning components and/or first year experience programming required, as well as a keen understanding of student development theory.  The successful candidate will be highly motivated, energetic, and ready to assume the responsibility of a comprehensive, demanding housing and residence life program. Abilities required include computer skills (knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; experience using email and internet), demonstrated professionalism; effective organizational and time management skills; effective interpersonal skills (listening, verbal/non-verbal and written communication skills), and effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.    

REMUNERATION:  Competitive salary, full College benefits, a furnished apartment with utilities and meals (while food service is in operation).  This is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position.
