Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Lycoming College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position split between the areas of analysis and statistics starting fall 2018. The successful candidate will teach a 3 course per semester load that consists primarily of introductory statistics, multivariable calculus, and real analysis. In addition, the successful candidate will have the option of developing a first year seminar and/or a special topics capstone course in his or her area of expertise.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
A Ph.D. is required, but ABDs near their final stages of completion will be considered. Strong preference is given to candidates with one of the following: a Ph.D. in analysis with an interest in statistics, a Ph.D. in probability with an interest in analysis, or a Ph.D. in statistics with interest and formal training in analysis. A strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts environment is essential. Both scholarship and service to the college are required for tenure and promotion. Scholarship involving collaboration between departments is welcomed and valued.
Applicants should send a cover letter addressing their interest in teaching statistics and analysis at a liberal arts college as well as a current CV, graduate transcripts, brief statements of teaching philosophy and research interests, and evidence of teaching effectiveness. Candidates should indicate in their cover letter whether they plan to attend the 2018 Joint Mathematics Meetings in San Diego.
