Mail Services Coordinator

Position Summary:

Lycoming College seeks applications for the position of Mail Services Coordinator.  Reporting to the Associate Director of Human Resources, this position manages and participates in all aspects of the College Mail Center operations.  Position responsibilities include overseeing and participating in the timely and accurate pick-up, sorting, distribution and delivery of incoming and outgoing USPS mail and packages, interdepartmental campus mail and packages, bulk mail and certified and registered mail; operation of standard mail equipment including automated electronic and computer-interfaced postage mail meter machines and express courier programs; hiring, training and supervising student workers; processing accurate departmental monthly billing statements for postal charges; monitoring departmental budget.  This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible position. 

Required Experience & Qualifications:

High school diploma required; Associates degree preferred.  Experience in a postal facility and/or working knowledge of postal regulations; supervisory experience preferred.  Successful candidates should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), top-notch customer service abilities and self-motivation.  Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.  Attention to detail and time management skills are a priority.  Effective computer skills (email, Microsoft Office programs, ability to learn automated postal systems and College database), and a valid PA driver’s license and good driving record are required.  Candidates should have the demonstrated ability to work in an environment that is deadline-orientated, fast-paced with frequent interruptions, where the accuracy of the work is a priority, and maintain the ability to focus on tasks with a pleasant disposition.  As part of the daily routing, this position requires the ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 60lbs., frequently ascend and descend stairs while lifting and moving objects, ability to load and unload packages and boxes from vehicles (bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying), and to work under adverse weather conditions (indoors 60% / outdoors 40%).
