Mission Statement

The Office of the Assistant Dean for Freshmen focuses on:

  • preparing first-year students for a successful transition from high school to college,
  • enhancing their awareness of the College community, and the larger community beyond, and on
  • retaining these students by providing support for their first-year experience

The desired outcome of this focus is the development of student attitudes and strategies that will maximize academic success in each first-year student. Students are encouraged by this office to develop positive relationships with each other and with faculty, staff and administrators.

We value collaboration with and among faculty, staff and other administrators to improve the educational outcomes for both the freshman class and each individual student in the class.
