1st Weekend

1st Weekend picks up where New Student Orientation left off, with the primary difference being the reality that the academic year has arrived. In addition to being assisted at check-in by more than 100 students donned in gold, 1st Weekend includes opportunities to bond with your peers, connect with student leaders, explore downtown Williamsport, learn firsthand about Lycoming’s resources for success, and get ready for the first day of classes. The schedule is designed with your successful integration into the Lycoming College community as a primary goal.

One highlight of 1st Weekend is the New Student Convocation Ceremony on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend this ceremony which officially opens our academic year as President Trachte and the faculty and staff welcome the newest members of the Lycoming College community. A reception for new students and their families hosted by the President immediately follows the ceremony.

New for 2017! With Lycoming College enjoying our most wonderfully diverse class with more students coming from farther distances than ever before, we are proud to announce that New Student Convocation will be streamed live for our families who are unable to be with us due to distance or scheduling. We will get back to you with the specifics regarding how to connect with the live stream.

A note to fall athletes who arrive before 1st Weekend for preseason camp: Even though you will already be on campus, you will check-in for 1st Weekend and follow the same schedule as the rest of the class. We look forward to welcoming you and cheering you on!

A note to all International, Outer Territory, and Partnership students who arrive before 1st Weekend for New Student Orientation: Even though you will already be on campus, you will check-in for 1st Weekend and follow the same schedule as the rest of the class.

A note to commuter students: Commuters are expected to participate in all 1st Weekend events, meals, and activities. Although you will not be staying on campus, all meals will be provided throughout 1st Weekend.

A note to transfer students: Transfer students will check-in on Friday of  1st Weekend, are encouraged to participate in New Student Convocation, and will follow a modified, simpler schedule that recognizes that, although you have already had college experience elsewhere, this is your first semester at Lycoming College.
