Rachel Hickoff-Cresko earned her Doctor of Education degree with a specialization in reading and language arts from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. Additionally, she has a Master of Education degree specializing in teaching English language learners, a Reading Specialist certification, elementary and special education certifications, and is a fellow of the National Writing Project. Dr. Hickoff-Cresko has eleven years of teaching experience in urban public schools in Pennsylvania.
Her research interests include sources of reading self-efficacy and the education of economically disadvantaged populations. Her publications include Pennsylvania Department of Education English Language Learner Resource Kit, Ghana West Africa Resource Guide for Teachers, and book reviews for the Association for Childhood Education International.
Dr. Hickoff-Cresko was the recipient of a Fulbright-Hays scholarship to study and develop curriculum in Ghana, West Africa and a recipient of a Project Teach grant, which covered tuition for her Master’s degree from the Universidad del Turabo in Puerto Rico.
Originally from the Williamsport area, Dr. Hickoff-Cresko has returned to the community and looks forward to helping her students at Lycoming College become reflective, enthusiastic, and successful teachers.
