Lycoming seeks to improve its national reputation by enhancing five existing programs through new endowment opportunities.

Institute for Management Studies - The Institute for Management Studies supports the academic programs of the departments of business administration, economics and accounting. It provides those students with opportunities that might be found only in a business school within the context of a liberal arts and sciences college. The endowments will ensure the continuation of the program, which is now primarily funded from the operating budget.

Clean Water Institute - Founded by biology professor Dr. Mel Zimmerman, this dynamic program maximizes Lycoming's current strength in environmental sciences by providing both a service to the region and a unique learning experience for Lycoming students.

Symposium Program - This program brings outside speakers and scholars to campus throughout a semester-long discussion on a variety of important topics. Recent symposia have included "Brown versus the Board of Education: The Road to Civil Rights," "The Genome Project," "Space," "Evolution" and "The Internet: Challenges and Choices in Cyberspace."

Visiting Scholars Program - This new program will bring writers, artists, scientists, historians and others to our relatively rural campus to enrich a variety of academic departmental offerings.

Creative Writing Program - Established in the late 1980s, few Creative Writing programs of this caliber exist at small liberal arts colleges. Lycoming's program is co-directed by a renowned poet and a successful fiction writer and has become a highly respected part of the College's curriculum. The endowment will offset the high costs of the program and support visiting poets and writers.
