Jerry Rashid was named director of college relations at Lycoming College in December 2007. He is responsible for managing all of the College's advertising, public relations, marketing, media relations, publications and sports information efforts and portions of the Web.
Rashid came to Lycoming from Olivet College in Michigan, where he served as assistant vice president for college relations for five years. While at Olivet, his duties included managing advertising, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, publications, sports information, special events and the Web.
His professional background includes more than 15 years in higher education public relations. Prior to Olivet, he worked at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina, where he served as marketing communications specialist for three years. He has also worked in sports information at Stetson University in Florida, Wayne State College in Nebraska and the University of North Dakota.
Rashid’s work has been recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Public Relations Society of America and College Sports Information Directors of America.
Rashid, a native of Lansing, Mich., earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Michigan State University.
Sandy Jansson joined Lycoming College in 1991 as coordinator for the Office of College Relations. Sandy is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to Pennsylvania in 1989.
Sandy provides assistance to all three areas within the Office of College Relations, including public relations, publications and sports information. Some of her responsibilities include processing production requests, assisting with press releases, hometown news and the alumni magazine, and updating the College's front page.
