Lycoming Baroque Choir and Orchestra Auditions

Why Hold Auditions?
The Lycoming Baroque Choir and Orchestra holds auditions to ensure that the ensemble will produce high-quality music within a condensed rehearsal schedule. The weekend-long rehearsal and performance schedule (see example below) is an important feature of the group for two reasons. It allows people who are unable to commit to a weekly rehearsal to participate. It also allows people who live outside of Williamsport to travel and stay in Williamsport for any or all of the rehearsal cycle.
Why Use These Excerpts?
Members of the choir will be asked to learn their music, to the best of their ability, prior to the first rehearsal. By selecting excerpts from the pieces we will perform it ensures that members understand and can accomplish that expectation.
Please note: Tools will ALWAYS be provided to assist you in learning the music (i.e. recordings, pronunciation guides, etc.)
Is There a Limit to the Number of Singers
Yes and no. Based on the results of the auditions and the relative numbers in each voice part we will know how the big the choir will be. Additionally, we will likely change the size of the group depending on the repertoire selected for each concert.

Do not be nervous or hesitate to audition because of the requirements. They are certainly not meant to deter people from auditioning.
