- Encourage your student to visit Career Services early and often so that he or she can become familiar with career-related resources available at Lycoming College.
- Advise your student to consider summer employment and to begin developing a resume.
- Challenge your student to explore and research careers of interest.
- Allow your student to make his or her own career-related decisions.
- Emphasize the importance of experiential education opportunities such as participation in a shadowing opportunity, summer employment, service learning, study abroad and internships.
- Encourage and support extracuricular involvement on campus.
- Persuade your student to stay up-to-date with current events, especially in key fields of interest.

- Teach the value of networking with others.
