Assistant Dean and Executive Director

Gwen M. Greene Career & Internship Center: University of Rochester – Rochester, NY

The Assistant Dean and Executive Director of the Gwen M. Greene Career & Internship Center is the lead visionary and external facing executive driving the enhancement, expansion, organization, and implementation of initiatives related to the pre- and post-graduation career growth and development of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering students and young alumni. As the chief ambassador for the Greene Center with external constituents, the Assistant Dean works in collaboration with deans and other University leaders, academic departments/faculty, student services colleagues, and the Office of Advancement & Alumni Relations to create innovative partnerships, programs, internships, and opportunities that will serve students from their first year to their post-graduate careers. Key priorities for the Assistant Dean include strengthening alumni and employer engagement with the Greene Center; developing ways to involve parents and family; increasing the breadth and scope of experiential and post-graduate opportunities in business and industry, education, entrepreneurial, government, and non-profit sectors; addressing the unique needs of graduate students pursing non-academic careers; enhancing support to international students; and aligning the mission, services, and organizational structure of a comprehensive career and internship center to reflect progressive best practices and measurable results. Additionally, the Assistant Dean will serve as the principal spokesperson for the Greene Center with the media and other external constituencies addressing internship, career planning, and work-related programs and initiatives, as well as marketing the talents and capabilities of University students. Reporting to the Dean of the College, the Assistant Dean will lead a growing team, currently consisting of 15 staff members, and manage an expanding operating budget that includes an endowed internship fund in excess of $2 million.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a track record of innovative leadership and broad understanding of career flexibility and opportunities for individuals educated in the liberal arts, sciences, and engineering. A master’s degree and five years of related experience in career development, higher education administration, fundraising, or talent management—or an equivalent combination of education and experience—are required. The ability to build effective relationships; superior communication skills; capacity for innovative thinking; and an ability to build strategic partnerships with internal and external constituents are of key importance. An ability to think strategically; lead change; motivate students; promote professional development and creativity among staff; collect, analyze, and report data; and passionately market the talents and capabilities of diverse students and graduates to a wide range of internship sponsors, alumni, educational institutions, and employers will be important considerations in the selection of the next Assistant Dean and Executive Director of the Gwen M. Greene Career & Internship Center

Working independently, the R&D Scientist plays a primary role in the development of new products. The Scientist focuses on product design goals and provides technical support in their field of expertise to production, QA, and product management. The Scientist also participates in the transfer of new products or processes into production, technical training of personnel and in the transfer of new technology into Supelco.Support and accelerate the conversion of our chemical standards product line to certified reference materials.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • BS in Chemistry or closely related science.

  • Two years laboratory experience.     

  • Knowledge in field of expertise, analytical techniques, both use and theory required. 

  • Verbal and technical writing skills required with the ability to publish in scientific journals and write detailed product information. 

  • Some knowledge of cGMP and other regulatory requirements in field of expertise. 

  • Skills required to design experiments and interpret data, develop practical products, and assist other researchers. 

  • Strong interest in product development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop new products: Develop a research plan of proposed new products. Identify the critical paths and technical milestones. Document whether new products can be manufactured with current Supelco technology.

  • Perform required laboratory work with support of other Scientists as applicable.

  • Direct the individual development projects to completion individually or as a group.

  • Generate progress reports and coordinate projects with other groups affected.

  • Develop appropriate specifications, manufacturing, QA documents for new products

  • Maintain a research notebook keeping accurate notes and records including conclusions.

    Maintain company guidelines for safety, compliance, and cGMP where applicable.

  • Provide technical support to other functional groups within Supelco: Support process development projects with manufacturing. Provide laboratory support as needed.

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processes as needed.  Technically assist in production runs as needed.

  • Technically review manufacturing documents and Protocols.  Provide assistance in custom or special batches.

  • Develop new procedures or troubleshoot problems.

  • Support QA with investigation of product complaints or other quality/regulatory issues.

  • Provide support to validation projects when needed.

  • Assist in writing product inserts and other technical information. 

  • Perform technical review of product catalogs or other market literature.

  • Provide summary of product performance data and application data suitable for marketing publications.

  • Participate in technology transfer: Remain current in field of expertise through literature, scientific meetings, and seminars.

  • Prepare written, verbal and visual material for in-house presentations or for outside scientific meetings and presentations.

  • Search for new technology to bring into Supelco.  Document new ideas and potential business.

  • Develop and manage technical consulting arrangements.

  • Provide technical training: Provide technical assistance to other chemists and technicians in the group.

  • Develop and perform technical training seminars in field of expertise to other groups within Supelco

  • Maintain a clean, neat and well organized work area.

As a Family Dollar Customer Service Representative you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our customers.     Assist in all general plant accounting activities, including inventory and fixed assets.  Coordinates the financial closing including the preparation of journal entries, reports, and required account analysis.  Assist in the preparation of the plants annual operating expense budget.  Directs all plant physical inventories, including cycle counts and audits.  Analyzes and reconciles all inventory adjustments.  Reconciles assigned outside warehouse inventories for LSI.  Maintains and controls the plants fixed asset system to insure compliance with internal and external guidelines.  Creates and maintains the SAP master recipes for all Esters, Acrawax, and Surfactants products.
