The chapel lift met its maker this summer both figuratively and literally. The manufacturer advised us that replacement of the two blown computer boards would cost in excess of $4,000 to repair. Replacing the lift would cost in excess of $ 20,000.
Fortunately, our staff often thinks "out of the box". Joe Moyer our Electrician Supervisor studied the problem and the schematics. Bypassing all the computer components and relying on a logical sequencing of electrical relays, Joe had the lift up and running in time for the first Friday noon concert.
By the way, the total cost of the ingenious retrofit: $300!!!
