Dr. Zimmerman's Class travels to Wallops Island, Virginia!
Over long weekend (October 26-29, 2006), 12 students from Dr. Mel Zimmerman's Invertebrate Zoology class, along with Dr. Peter Petokas, traveled to the Wallops Island Marine lab in Virginia to study salt marsh ecology and collect marine organisms. Momentous events included the capture of 20 Diamondback Terrapins while trawling in the Chincoteague Marsh Channels and observation of the wild Chincoteague ponies and Sika elk on Assateague Island.
