Philip Sprunger

Dr. Philip Sprunger is an associate professor in the department and has been with the department since arriving in 1993 from Indiana University, Bloomington. In addition to teaching both Principles of Micro and Principles of Macro, he teaches International Trade and various micro-based publics economics courses, including Public Finance, Public Choice, Urban Problems and Environmental Economics. In 2004 he was awarded the college’s Constance Cupp Plankernhorn Alumni Award for Faculty Excellence.

Dr. Sprunger has recently published a Principles of Economics instructors manual and a chapter in a textbook on the U.S. economy. He as also published in the Journal of Urban Economics and in various conference proceedings. In addition, he has recently served as an expert witness in a landfill permitting dispute. He has presented papers or served on panels at over a dozen academic conferences.

On campus, Dr. Sprunger serves as the faculty Institutional Researcher and has been active on a variety of committees. Currently he chairs the faculty Budget, Salaries and Benefits committee and sits on the campus-wide Long Range Planning committee. He has been elected Vice Chair of the faculty for next year.
