WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Lycoming College head swimming coach Jerry Hammaker has been promoted to assistant athletic director for the Warriors’ NCAA Division III athletic program, effective July 1. He will also continue his coaching duties.
July 1 also marks the official start date for Scott Kennell, who assumes the athletic director position with the retirement of Frank Girardi.
“Jerry has done an outstanding job with his programs here at Lycoming,” said Kennell. “I’m proud to announce that he will be serving as the assistant athletic director for the College.”
Hammaker enters his ninth season at Lycoming, where he has guided the swimming programs to the highest levels in Lycoming history. The men’s team has posted a dual meet record of 57-23 during Hammaker’s tenure while the women’s team sits at 60-21.
A native of Williamsport, Hammaker began coaching while in high school as an assistant coach and landed his first head coaching job at Montoursville Area High School in 1986. Prior to his return to Williamsport, he served as the head coach and CEO of Hilton Head Aquatics in South Carolina.
