 JAMESTOWN, N.Y.—Lycoming College’s wrestling team traveled to the SUNY-Jamestown Jayhawk Wrestling Tournament this weekend. Several Warriors placed in the all day event, including sophomore Chris Dahlheimer (Felton, Pa.) and senior Troy Hansen (Westtown, N.Y.) who were tournament champions at 165 and 197 pounds, respectively.
At 125 pounds, Lycoming freshman Noel Faison (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished in second place, while freshman Eric Grecco (Brockway, Pa.) took third. Freshmen Andrew Lewis (Wyalusing, Pa.) and Tom Barger (Clearfield, Pa.) placed third at 133 and 141 pounds, respectively. Freshman Zach Ewbank (Dillsburg, Pa.) was the runner-up in the 157 pound weight class, while fellow frosh John Mastrobuono (Mendham, N.J.) took third in the same weight class. At 174, sophomore Justin Waycaster (Watsontown, Pa.) grabbed second place. There was no team score kept.
Warrior head coach Roger Crebs said, “We wrestled very well this weekend.
I thought the guys stepped it up." Lycoming was ranked #13 in the nation by Brute/Adidas before a disappointing loss to King’s on Jan. 22.
The blue and gold travel to the Bridgewater State (Mass.) Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 2. Lycoming’s next home match is on Valentine’s Day against Elizabethtown College at Lamade Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
