WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming College’s wrestling team (6-2) defeated Gettysburg College by a team score of 25-16 on Tuesday at Lamade Gymnasium. The win was Lycoming’s third in a row, all in the last four days.
Junior Bryan Kopesky (Phillipsburg, N.J.) won by technical fall at 184 pounds, while sophomore Chris Dahlheimer (Felton, Pa.) and freshman Tom Barger (Clearfield, Pa.) scored major decisions at 165 and 141, respectively. Senior Troy Hansen (Westtown, N.Y.) moved up to heavyweight and lost a close 3-2 match to a much larger Bobby Christopher.
Gettysburg forfeited at 125 and 197 pounds to Warriors Cody Billotte (Frenchville, Pa.) and Matt Miller (Muncy, Pa.), respectively. The Bullets tied the score 10-10 after the 157-pound bout in which Andrew Goldstein defeated Lycoming’s Zach Frederick (West Chester, Pa.) by a score of 7-4.
Lycoming hosts the 14th annual Budd Whitehill National Duals this weekend, Jan. 11-12. The competition begins at 9 a.m. each day and features nine of the top-30 teams in the nation.
