WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—In 2007-08, the Lycoming College wrestling team (11-5) finished its 15th consecutive season with 10 or more wins. The Warriors were led by 197-pound senior captain Matt Miller (Muncy, Pa.) and 165-pound sophomore captain Chris Dahlheimer (Felton, Pa.), whose outstanding efforts earned them top-10 national rankings in their respective weight classes.
Miller is currently ranked 8th in NCAA Division III at 197 pounds by Brute/Adidas on intermatwrestle.com. Miller finished last season with a 25-8 record and is 14-0 in 2008. At the 2008 Budd Whitehill National Duals, Miller went 4-0,
helping the Warriors to a fourth-place finish.
Dahlheimer is currently ranked 6th in the nation at 165 pounds according to Brute/Adidas. Dahlheimer finished the 2007 season with a 25-10 record and was named captain for 2008 despite being just a sophomore. His record in dual-matches this year is 12-1.
Lycoming head coach Roger Crebs will take ten wrestlers to the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Championships this Saturday, Feb. 23 in Oneonta, N.Y. Miller and Dahlheimer will be joined by senior Troy Hansen (Westtown, N.Y.), junior Bryan Kopesky (Phillipsburg, N.J.), sophomore Zach Frederick (West Chester, Pa.) and freshmen Walker Faison (Virginia Beach, Va.), Andrew Lewis (Wyalusing, Pa.), Tom Barger (Clearfield, Pa.), Mike Maurer (Towanda, Pa.) and Troy Hayre (Falls Church, Va.).
Individual winners and wild-card picks from the ECWC Championships will advance to the NCAA Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 7-8. Lycoming will also be competing for the ECWC team championship which was won last year by Cortland State.
