 LOYALSOCK, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s tennis team dropped a Commonwealth Conference match, 9-0, against Messiah College on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Bruce E. Henry Park.
The Lady Warriors (1-5, 0-3) battled through the doubles round, falling in each match to the Falcons (6-1, 3-0).
Rebecca Reynolds (South Williamsport, Pa.) and Aimee Snyder (Kempton, Pa.) fell 8-3 at the no.1 position to Christie McGinley and Stacey Clark.
Erica Niemann (Taylor, Mich.) and Kelly Drinkard (Seaville, N.J.) lost a close match, 8-5, at the no. 2 position againstSarah Thow and Annie Gotchel. Jessica Souchik (Lewis Run, Pa.) and Kathryn Walker (Red Lion, Pa.) dropped the no. 3 match, 8-3, against Katie Marstaller and Steph Knepper.
In the singles competition, Souchik was the lone Lady Warrior to win a set, opening with a 7-6 win at the no. 6 position. After falling 6-2 in the second set, the match went to a decisive pro-set tiebreaker. Knepper escaped with a 10-8 win to seal the win.
The Lady Warriors will host Penn State-Harrisburg on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
