LOYALSOCK, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s tennis team edged Penn State-Harrisburg, 5-4, on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Bruce E. Henry Park. The win is the second of the season for the Lady Warriors.

The Lady Lions opened the doubles round of the match with a 8-4 win at the no. 1 position but Lycoming battled back to win the next two doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into the singles round.

Kelly Drinkard (Seaville, N.J.) and Erica Niemann (Taylor, Mich.) paired together at the no. 2 position to edge the team of Maya Davis and Alexa Watach 9-8. Jessica Souchik (Lewis Run, Pa.) and Kathryn Walker (Red Lion, Pa.) picked up an 8-6 win at the no. 3 position.

Aimee Snyder (Kempton, Pa.) and Rebecca Reynolds (South Williamsport, Pa.) continued to lead the singles attack, with both earning wins at the top two positions.

Snyder defeated Lauren Hall in straight-sets (6-4, 7-6) at no. 1 and Reynolds picked up her team-leading third win of the season with a straight-set (6-1, 6-1) win against Ashleigh Roach at no. 2.

Drinkard picked up a straight-set (6-1, 6-4) win against Watach at the no. 4 position to secure the win for Lycoming.

PSU-Harrisburg earned singles wins at nos. 3, 5 and 6.

With the win, Lycoming improves to 2-5 overall and remains 1-2 in the Commonwealth Conference.

The Lady Warriors will travel to Elizabethtown on Wednesday, Oct. 8, for a 3:30 p.m. match.
