WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.--Lycoming's women's tennis team won its first match of the year in its third contest. After falling to Susquehanna and Lebanon Valley, the Lady Warriors came back with a vengeance against Baptist Bible on Wednesday, September 19. Head coach Deb Holmes' team topped the Lady Blazers 6-3 on the day.
Although Lycoming's number-one doubles team fell 8-6, both the number two team of Kelly Drinkard (Seaville, NJ) and Erika Niemann (Taylor, MI) , and the number-threes Jessica Souchik (Lewis Run, PA) and Kirstie McKeever (Blossburg, PA) trimphed 8-1 and 8-5 respectively.
In singles, #1 Amiee Snyder (Kempton, PA) and #3 Niemann lost, but #2 Rebecca Reynolds (South Williamsport, PA) kept the Lady Warriors even with a 6-2, 6-1 win. Then the bottom of the lineup came through by winning three matches. #4 Drinkard won 6-0,6-0, as did #5 Souchik. And, finally, #6 Emily Ruhl (Williamsport, PA) took down her opponent 6-0, 6-2.
Lycoming follows its victory with an immediate match against Messiah tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at Bruce Henry Park.
