Deb Holmes and women's athletics are synonymous at Lycoming College. Coach Holmes enters her 33rd season as the Lady Warriors' women's tennis coach in 2008. She has also previously coached women's basketball at Lycoming.
In addition to her coaching duties, Holmes is also a full-time instructor of physical education and is chairperson of the department. In the past, she has also served as director of the intramural sports program at the College.
Holmes stresses academics, as well as athletics. She is an academic student-advisor and has coached 40 athletes named to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Academic team over the past 14 years.
Holmes earned a bachelor's degree in recreation and a master's degree in physical education from Penn State University, where she was a member of the Lion's varsity softball team.
"Deb Holmes is an outstanding individual and a very good coach," said Frank Girardi, Lycoming’s Director of Athletics. "She embodies everything that is good about Lycoming College. She cares about the student-athletes and goes out of her way to make sure their experience at Lycoming is the best it can possibly be."
