Four Lycoming College players have been named to the 2008 Middle Atlantic Conference Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Team. First-team honors go to senior Megan Wallenhorst (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequiot HS) and junior Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon HS). Sophomore Danielle Gargiulo (Branchburg, N.J./Immaculata HS) and senior Kristina Peacock (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas HS) are second-team selections. Lycoming finished the year at 9-8 overall, 5-3 in conference play and made the semi-finals of the MAC playoffs.
From her attack position, Wallenhorst started all16 games she played in and led the Lady Warriors in goals (56), points (75) and shots on goal (77). She played in seven conference games and ranked sixth in goals per game (3.57) and points per game (4.86). This marks the fourth year Wallehhorst has led Lycoming in scoring. She also finishes her career as the school’s all-time leader in points (276) and goals (233), and is third in assists (43). Last year, Wallenhorst was second-time All-MAC, first-team All-Region and third-team All-American.
As a midfielder, Wingerden started 15 of the 17 games she played in and finished the year second in goals (29) and third in points (41). Last year, she was named All-MAC, All-Region and the team’s co-MVP.
On defense, Gargiulo played in 16 games, making 13 starts. She led the team in caused turnovers (17) and was one of the team leaders in ground balls (26).
Peacock played goalie in 16 games, with 14 starts and had a record of 8-7. She logged 848 minutes and made 209 saves while facing 241 shots. In league play, she ranked third in save percentage (.535) in seven MAC games. She was sixth in saves per game (11.00). She finishes her career as Lycoming’s all-time leader in saves (693) and ranks second for most saves in a season with 209 this year. In 2007, she was named co-MVP of the season.
