GENEVA, N.Y.—Lycoming’s women’s basketball team fell to William Smith on Saturday by a score of 70-56. The Lady Warriors had previously won three consecutive games in the new year. William Smith was ranked 17th in the country to begin the season.
The Lady Warriors missed their first five shots from the floor, while making three turnovers in the first three minutes, resulting in a 39-19 deficit at halftime. Nonetheless, junior Andrea Cooper (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) scored a team-high 19 points for the game, while grabbing six rebounds.
Lycoming’s Michelle Wisla (Schwenksville, Pa.), Jessica Nabholz (Cressona, Pa.) and Samantha Ruby (Thomasville, Pa.) each scored six points, while senior Jamie Buriak (Frackville, Pa.) recorded five rebounds. However, the Lady Warriors were 1-of-13 from beyond the three-point line.
For the Lady Herons, the victory was their fifth straight. Forward Erin Cunningham compiled 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Stephanie Czajkowski grabbed 11 boards.
Lycoming returns home for a Jan 15 match-up with cross town rival Penn College. The game begins at 7 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
