SELINSGROVE, Pa.—Lycoming’s women’s basketball team lost to regional rival Susquehanna on Thursday, December 6 by a score of 71-59. The Lady Warriors shot just over 32% from the field for the game, while the Lady Crusaders knocked down 48% of their shots.
Lycoming freshman Kaitlyn Ober (Lititz, PA) hit five of five foul shots on her way to 17 points on the night. Junior Andrea Cooper (Hollidaysburg, PA) shared the team lead with 17 points of her own. Sophomore guards Jessica Zerbee (Duncansville, PA) and Alicia Engler (Williamsport, PA) grabbed five rebounds apiece to top all Lady Warriors.
For Susquehanna, Val Houseal notched 19 points, while Leigh Henderson hit three three-pointers on her way to 11 points on the evening.
Lycoming kept it close in the first half despite shooting 30.3%. At halftime, the Lady Crusaders were ahead 30-28. But, in the second half, the blue and gold went cold from beyond the three-point line and allowed Susquehanna to hold its lead throughout the final period.
The Lady Warriors next travel to Phoenix, Arizona from December 29-31 for the Grand Canyon Classic. In the new year, the team will host the Lycoming Tournament at Lamade Gymnasium on January 4 and 5.
