WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s women’s basketball team (10-10, 1-5) fell to Commonwealth Conference foe Widener (10-11, 2-4) in overtime by a score of 68-64 on Saturday at Lamade Gymnasium. Lycoming celebrated “Think Pink” Day for the game, promoting breast cancer awareness.
Sophomore Becky Leid (Denver, Pa.) led the Lady Warriors with 15 points and 11 rebounds, notching her first double-double of the season by hitting six of her eight shots from the field. Freshman Kaitlyn Ober (Lititz, Pa.) scored 10 points, while sophomore Samantha Ruby (Thomasville, Pa.) recorded nine points by converting three three-pointers. Junior Andrea Cooper (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) blocked three shots on the afternoon.
The lead went back and forth throughout the game, with Widener up at halftime 27-26. The Pride led by as much as seven, 51-44, with just under eight minutes left, but the Lady Warriors stormed back to tie the game at 53. The lead again bounced back and forth until Lycoming’s Allison Mock (State College, Pa.) hit a three at 1:09 to tie the score at 60 and send it into overtime.
In the bonus period, the Lady Warriors fell behind 64-60 and couldn’t eclipse the deficit.
Lycoming hosts nationally-ranked Messiah on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. at Lamade.
