WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s women’s basketball team (10-14, 1-9) lost its final game of the season by a score of 68-55 to Lebanon Valley (21-4, 5-4) on Saturday at Lamade Gymnasium. The Lady Warriors honored their three seniors: Michelle Wisla (Schwenksville, Pa.), Allison Palubinsky (Ringtown, Pa.) and Jamie Buriak (Frackville, Pa.) before the game for Senior Day. All three were in the game’s starting lineup.
Sophomore Allison Mock (State College, Pa.) had team-highs with 11 points oon three three-pointers. Junior Andrea Cooper (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) scored 10 points with four rebounds. Buriak led Lycoming with five boards.
Both teams started off slowly before the Dutchmen ran off nine straight points midway through the first to take an 18-8 lead. Leb Val kept the lead around 10 for most of the half and a 7-0 run capped by an LVC three-pointer around the four-minute mark extended the lead to 27-14.
A long-range three by Mock brought Lyco back to within 10, and a Cooper runner cut the score to 29-21 with 1:35 remaining in the half. But two quick baskets put the Dutchmen
on top, 33-21, at the break.
LVC pulled out to a 43-29 lead early in the second half, but the Lady warriors cut the lead to single digits with a 5-0 run. The two teams traded baskets and, with six minutes left, consecutive Lycoming buckets brought the blue and gold within six at 51-45.
After an LVC bucket, a Mock three cut the deficit to five. LVC answered with consecutive three-pointers by Eryn Schultz to go back up by 11.
Buriak hit two free throws late in the game, but a Shelly Lobach basket and five unanswered points by Schultz gave Lebanon Valley a commanding 16-point lead with 1:12 left.
The Lady Warriors finish the season at 10-14.
