
The Lady Warriors sweep the "Hoops for Hounds" Holiday Classic!

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s women’s basketball team defeated SUNY-Fredonia by a score of 58-53 at Lamade Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The game was the final contest of the Lycoming “Hoops for Hounds” Holiday Basketball Classic, benefitting the local SPCA.
Sophomore Lady Warrior Becky Leid (Denver, PA) returned to form after missing several games in December due to an injury. She scored 17 points on Saturday and took home tournament Most Valuable Player honors. Sophomore forward Jessica Nabholz (Cressona, PA) recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while junior Andrea Cooper (Hollidaysburg, PA) notched 15 points.
Point guard Jessica Zerbee (Duncansville, PA) joined Leid on the all-tournament team following the game. Zerbee had nine points, going two for two from behind the three-point line against Fredonia.
Fredonia’s Cheryl Kindzia compiled 19 points and 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the Classic. Her teammate Maria Scaffidi notched 18 points, including five three-pointers.
In Saturday’s opening game, Buffalo State defeated Rutgers-Camden by a score of 55-44. Buffalo State’s Shareese Hamer recorded a double-double with a game-high 12 rebounds, all defensive, and 10 points. Her teammates Alyssa Kinney and Cat Elimadu also had 10 points each.
The All-Tournament team was led by Leid and Zerbee, along with Fredonia’s Kindzia, Buffalo State’s Toya Parks and Rutgers-Camden’s Karima Blackwell.
Lycoming hosts Penn State-Altoona on Monday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s women’s basketball team (6-4) defeated Buffalo State
(4-6) by a score of 64-56 in the opening game of the Lady Warriors' "Hoops for Hounds" Holiday Basketball Classic on Friday night, benefitting the local SPCA.
Sophomore guard Allison Mock (State College, PA) started the game and took full advantage by hitting all six of her shots, including four for four from behind the three-point line. Mock led all Lady Warriors with 16 points. Her six rebounds tied Jessica Zerbee (Duncansville, PA) for second on the team. Sophomore Jessica Nabholz (Cressona, PA)
pulled down seven boards.
Junior Andrea Cooper (Hollidaysburg, PA) scored 14 points, while sophomore Alicia Engler (Williamsport, PA) tallied 13, including a pair of three-pointers. For Rutgers-Camden, Toya Parks compiled 26 points, but she was the only Lady Raptor in double digits.
In the nightcap of the Holiday Classic, SUNY-Fredonia came from behind to beat Rutgers-Camden by a score of 47-43. The game was riddled with turnovers (32 by Fredonia and 25 by Rutgers), which left Fredonia down by seven at halftime. But reliable foul-shooting and a double double by Cheryl Kindzia helped the Lady Blue Devils triumph.
Lycoming takes on Fredonia at 3 p.m. on Saturday, while Rutgers-Camden and Buffalo State square off at 1 p.m. Both games are at Lamade Gymnasium.
