WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College volleyball team split a pair of games on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Lamade Gymnasium. The Lady Warriors opened the day with a 3-1 win against Moravian before dropping a 3-1 match against Marymount.
Lycoming (11-13) opened the Homecoming tri-match with a four-set (25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 33-31) win against Moravian.
Abby Myers (Shippensburg, Pa.) was efficient in the match, posting 10 kills in 21 attacks with just one error for a .429 hitting percentage. She also added 22 assists and 16 digs.
Heather Frantz (Pine Grove, Pa.) led the team offensively with 12 kills while also posting a team-high 28 digs in the match. Beth Machella (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) added eight kills and 28 digs. Amy Sharlow (Fair Lawn, N.J.) contributed 20 assists and nine digs while freshman libero Emily Abel (Spring Grove, Pa.) added 28 digs. Megan Schulze (Reedsville, Pa.) finished the match with six kills and four solo blocks.
In the second match of the day, Lycoming fell in four sets (26-28, 21-25, 25-22, 18-25) against Marymount.
Frantz posted double-digit kills for the second time on the day, leading the team with 13 kills and also adding 22 digs.
Myers added six kills, 20 assists and 19 digs. Sharlow handed out 14 assists and registered a season-high 29 digs. Schulze finished her day with four more solo blocks and also added one block assist. Abel led the team in digs with 32.
The Lady Warriors will travel to Pine Grove High School, the alma mater of Frantz, for a match against NCAA Division II Kutztown on Monday, Oct. 13. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
