Frantz has career performance in final collegiate match

Pazamickas and FrantzWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Heather Frantz celebrated senior night with a career-high 23 kill performance as the Lady Warriors volleyball team defeated Arcadia, 3-2, in a Commonwealth Conference match at Lamade Gymnasium on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Frantz (Pine Grove, Pa.) and fellow senior Katherine Pazamickas (Sunbury, Pa.) were honored before the final match of their collegiate careers.

Lycoming opened the match with a 25-19 win in the first set, but dropped a 25-23 decision in the second set. The two teams exchanged sets again when the Lady Warriors took the third set 25-14 and Arcadia won the fourth, 25-16.

In the final set, the Lady Warriors rallied around an outstanding service performance from Amy Sharlow (Fair Lawn, N.J.) and Abby Myers (Shippensburg, Pa.) to post a 15-7 win and seal the 3-2 match victory.

Frantz finished with 23 kills in 42 attempts. She also had 11 digs and two blocks.

Beth Machella (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) also put up a double-digit kill performance, finishing the match with 10 kills.

Pazimickas posted her best numbers of the season, finishing with five kills.

Myers handed out 30 assists while adding seven kills and two aces. Sharlow recorded 17 assists and two aces.

Emily Abel (Spring Grove, Pa.) and Megan Schulze (Reedsville, Pa.) led the defensive effort. Abel recorded 31 digs while Schulze finished with four total blocks.

The Lady Warriors finished the match with a .204 hitting percentage while the Knights posted a .159 percentage.

With the win, Lycoming ends the season with a 14-18 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the Commonwealth Conference. Arcadia drops to 10-14 overall and 1-5 in league play.

 

Season notes: Frantz’s 955 career kills rank her eighth all-time at Lycoming … her 1,117 career digs rank fifth all-time … she finished the season with 513 digs, ranking her third all-time for a single-season … she attempted 1,054 attacks this season, which ranks sixth in that category … freshman Emily Abel broke the school record for digs in a season, finishing with 681 digs and shattering the previous mark of 539, set by Jana Reitz in 2004.
