WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming women’s volleyball team (5-21, 1-1) defeated Albright 3-0 (30-15, 30-18, 30-25) in straight sets on Wednesday, October 10 at Lamade Gymnasium. The contest was Lycoming’s second conference match of the season.
Freshman Allison Lyke (Fort Washington, MD) had an outstanding match. In the opening game, she recorded five digs and five kills. And in games two and three, her presence at the net resulted in four blocks solo to lift Lycoming to victory.
Lady Warrior freshman Kelly Rose (Wilkes-Barre, PA) led her team with 18 kills on the evening, while setter Abby Myers (Shippensburg, PA) compiled 37 assists. Lycoming held Albright to 24 total kills for the match, although the Lady Lions continually forced long volleys.
Lycoming juniors Terra Erway (Coudersport, PA) and Heather Frantz (Pine Grove, PA) also had some powerful swings on the night. Erway totaled four kills and nine digs for the match, while Frantz chalked up nine kills and eight digs.
The Lady Warriors will hold their annual alumni match on Saturday, October 13 of Homecoming Weekend at 2:00 p.m. Lycoming’s next home game is on October 24 at 7:00 p.m. versus Elizabethtown.
