WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming College’s swim teams split victories with Susquehanna on Tuesday, November 13 at Lamade Natatorium. The Lady Warriors defeated the Lady Crusaders by a score of 115.5 to 89.5, while Lycoming’s men fell 89 to 108.
The women excelled in the relays, winning both the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard medley. Sophomore sprinter Caroline LeHota (Bellefonte, PA) took the top spot in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races, while freshman Stacey Flick (Easton, PA) and junior Jessie Gallagher (Cheltenham, PA) grabbed first in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly respectively. Flick also won the 100-yard breaststroke.
Freshman Meg Emery (Burke, VA) made the 1000-yard freestyle race exciting as she jumped out to a good lead, but allowed Susquehanna’s Kelly Leighton to sneak past her in the 31st lap. However, Emery cranked up the power to reclaim the lead two laps later and took the long-distance victory.
For the men, freshman Dave Zablocki (Joppa, MD) won the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke. Fellow frosh Joe Kuder (Moorestown, N.J.) took second in both events. Warriors Sage Morret (Dillsburg, PA) and junior Sean Berrier (Hughesville, PA) placed third respectively in those races.
Head coach Jerry Hammaker takes Lycoming on the road, facing Ursinus on Friday night. The team then travels to the Wooster Invitational in late-November. The Lady Warriors and Warriors return to Williamsport on Saturday, January 19 to face Lebanon Valley at Lamade Natatorium at 1:00 p.m.
