WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Senior women’s swimming co-captain Jessica Gough (Berwick, PA/ Berwick) was presented with the Chieftain Award this past weekend at Lycoming College’s Honors Convocation.
Gough, who earned 2007 second team All-Conference for her part in the women’s 200 free and 200 medley relay teams, is a perennial recipient of the MAC’s student-athlete Academic Honor Roll.
Gough is the president of her senior class, a member of student senate, the Pan-Hellenic council treasurer and a math tutor, to list a few of her accomplishments. She is a mathematics/actuarial mathematics/quantitative economics triple major, and has been on the dean’s list every semester at Lycoming.
At the 2007 swimming banquet, Gough was given the Teammate Award and the prestigious Mort Rauff Award for "the swimmer who demonstrated overall individual excellence and team spirit."
In the finale of the Honor’s Convocation, the Chieftain Award was presented by Lycoming College President James E. Douthat.
The Chieftain Award is the College’s highest award, recognizing “the senior who has contributed the most to Lycoming College through support of school activities; who has exhibited outstanding leadership qualities; who has worked effectively with other members of the College community; who has evidenced a good moral character; and whose academic rank is above the median of the preceding senior class.”
