WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming's swimming teams travel to Acapulco during Christmas break for their 7th annual training trip.
The 26 swimmers and four coaches fly out of New York’s JFK airport early Saturday, Dec. 15 and arrive in Acapulco, via Mexico City, later in the day. They will then take a bus to a private, luxury home situated on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The home has a staff of six to cook and clean for guests and has its own private beach, which includes a 50-foot cliff diving platform. The athletes and coaches will be the only occupants of the house during the trip. The Warriors and Lady Warriors will train twice a day in an outdoor long course pool.
“Our training on this trip usually sets us up for the remainder of our season,” says Head Coach Jerry Hammaker, “so we are happy to hear a forecast that includes warm weather and lots of sun to enable us to maximize our time in the pool.”
Lycoming's swimming teams have previously taken training trips to Ft. Myers, Hawaii, California, Orlando and the Bahamas. This is the first time they have rented a house to accommodate the entire team.
The team has organized a myspace page to document the trip.
