WILKES-BARRE, Pa.—Lycoming College’s men’s and women’s swimming teams each took third place in the Middle Atlantic Swimming Championships, which concluded on Sunday at the Catholic Youth Center in Wilkes-Barre. Albright College won the women’s overall MAC title, while Widener University took first for the men.
The grueling 1650-yard freestyle was Sunday’s first event. Meg Emery (Burke, Va.) placed sixth for the Lady Warriors, while Dave Zablocki (Joppa, Md.) took seventh for the Warriors. Joe Kuder (Moorestown, N.J.) and Sage Morret (Dillsburg, Pa.) finished 11th and 13th, respectively.
In the women’s 200-yard backstroke, Milvana Ban (Harrisburg, Pa.) placed fourth and Nichole Zoller (Colonia, N.J.) placed seventh for Lycoming. Lady Warriors Caroline LeHota (Bellefonte, Pa.) and Steph Conrad (Enola, Pa.) finished ninth and 11th, respectively. Warriors Sean Houser (Alexandria, Va.) and Tim Carroll (Norristown, Pa.) took ninth and 14th.
John Dougherty (Mountain Top, Pa.) and Ryan Adamson (Warrington, Pa.) placed sixth and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle sprint, while Amy Bentz (Elizabethtown, Pa.) took 16th for the women.
Stacy Flick (Easton, Pa.) had the Lady Warriors highest individual finish of the day, taking third in the 200-yard breaststroke. Kirsten Snyder (Reading, Pa.), Lizzy Stefani (Scranton, Pa.) and Michelle Pastrano (Claremont, Ca.) placed seventh, 10th and 15th, respectively. For the men, Zablocki took seventh and Sean Berrier (Hughesville, Pa.) finished 10th.
In the 200-yard butterfly, Amanda Guminski (Ambler, Pa.) and Jessie Gallagher (Cheltenham, Pa.) placed ninth and 10th. Brian Fausel (Burdett, N.Y.) and Brandon Good (Clearfield, Pa.) finished fifth and eighth, respectively for the Warriors.
The Championships ended with the 400-yard freestyle relay, where Lycoming’s men’s team of Adamson, Good, Houser and Dougherty took third, while the women’s team of Zoller, LeHota, Ban and Flick placed fourth.
In all, Lycoming head coach Jerry Hammaker’s young squads fared impressively at the annual conference finale. The Lady Warriors had just three seniors on their roster this season, while the men had none.
