READING, Pa.—Lycoming’s softball team (1-17, 0-8) lost both ends of a doubleheader to Albright College (8-18, 2-6) on Monday. The score of the first game was 8-1, while the second contest ended in a 5-4 tally.
Seven Lady Warriors had one hit apiece in the opener. Senior Holly Billow (Millersburg, Pa.) doubled in the sixth inning and scored on a Courtney Black (Stevens, Pa.) RBI single. Sophomore Jessica Nabholz (Cressona, Pa.) took the loss for Lycoming despite pitching three scoreless innings. She also singled in the third inning.
In the second game, Lady Warrior freshman Amber Moyer (Cleona, Pa.) singled and scored on a Hilarie Powers (Wellsboro, Pa.) RBI single in the first frame. Lycoming held its 1-0 lead until Albright scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Albright scored twice again in the fifth before Lycoming exploded for three runs with two outs in the top of the sixth to tie the game. Powers homered, driving in Moyer and junior Marissa Hastings (Old Forge, Pa.), who had singled. Albright opened the seventh with two hits and a stolen base before scoring on a sacrifice fly to notch the winning run.
The Lady Warriors host Lebanon Valley on Saturday, April 19 in the final regular-season game. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
