WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to Wilkes on Thursday. The score of the first game was 5-1, while the second game ended with an 8-3 tally.
In the opening contest, Lady Warrior third baseman Jessica Nabholz (Cressona, Pa.) went 2-for-3, including a double. In the fifth inning, senior Holly Billow (Millersburg, Pa.) crushed an opposite-field RBI double to the fence. Freshman Amber Moyer (Cleona, Pa.) scored on the play.
Senior Nicole Rhodes (Julian, Pa.) pitched the entire game for Lycoming, including four scoreless innings. She gave up four runs in the second and one run in the final frame.
The score of game two was 5-3 in favor of Wilkes after the fifth inning. The Lady Warriors scored one run in the second, fourth and fifth innings, but Wilkes came up with three runs in the sixth to seal the victory.
Lady Warriors Dana Marek (Bloomfield, N.J.), Chelsea Stein (Red Lion, Pa.) and Marissa Hastings (Old Forge, Pa.) each went 2-for-3 in the game. Stein and Hastings had RBIs, along with senior Hilarie Powers (Wellsboro, Pa.).
Lycoming travels to Messiah on Saturday, April 5 for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
