WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Susquehanna on Wednesday by scores of 13-2 and 12-2. It was the home opener for the Lady Warriors, who have been rained out in their last two games.
In the opening game, Lycoming freshman Amber Moyer (Cleona, Pa.) and sophomore Courtney Black (Stevens, Pa.) both went 2-for-4 and scored one run apiece. Five Lady Warriors had one hit each. Senior pitcher Nicole Rhodes (Julian, Pa.) went the distance on the mound for Lycoming and took the loss.
In the second game, junior Chelsie Apker (South Williamsport, Pa.) pitched all five innings for the blue and gold. Susquehanna pitcher Gretchen Halsey (Pottsville, Pa.) held Lycoming to just four hits and went 3-for-4 from the plate. Lady Warrior second baseman Dana Marek (Bloomfield, N.J.) ripped a double in the fourth inning, but was left stranded.
Lycoming hosts Widener on Saturday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m. It will be both teams’ first conference contest of 2008.
