Although Harry suffered a career-ending basketball injury in his first year as a Warrior basketball player, he stayed on as a student coach for the remainder of his collegiate career. The experience led him to achieve great success as the head women’s basketball coach at Villanova University. Perretta entered his 30th season as the Lady Wildcats head coach in 2007-08, having amassed a 536-313 career record. He is one of only 26 Division I women’s basketball coaches to eclipse 500 wins. He is ranked 21st on the active winningest coaches list, thanks in part to 14 20-win seasons. Perretta has led Villanova to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a berth in the Elite Eight in 2003. He took the Lady Wildcats to the 1982 AIAW Final Four and has gone to three Big East Tournament Championships. Most importantly, 99% of his players receive their degrees. Harry lives with his wife Helen, and their sons Stephen and Michael.
