WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming's men’s tennis team (1-3, 0-3) fell on Saturday to Lebanon Valley College (7-7, 1-2) by a score of 9-0.
In singles competition, freshman Alex Beattie (Willamsport, Pa.) highlighted the Warriors' performance. Beattie was able to pick up four wins and three wins in the two sets he played, falling to his opponent by a score of 6-4, 6-3.
In other singles matches, freshman Bobby Brown (Montoursville, Pa.) lost 6-1, 6-2, senior Colin Baier (Montoursville, Pa.) lost 6-1, 6-0, senior John Stutzman (Williamsport, Pa.) fell 6-2, 6-0, senior John Scarangello (Nazareth, Pa.) fell 6-2, 6-1, and senior Jeff Morcum (Waymart, Pa.) was defeated 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, Scarangello and Jeremie Pierce (Gilsum, N.H.) combined for five wins in their match before finally losing to their opponent 8-5. In other doubles action, Baier and Stutzman were defeated 8-4, and Brown and Beattie were defeated 8-3.
The Warriors' next match is on Wednesday, April 9 at 3:30 p.m. when the Warriors travel to Messiah to take on the defending Commonwealth Conference champions.
