GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s tennis team (1-4, 0-4) fell to the defending Commonwealth Conference champions, Messiah College (6-6-1, 3-0) by a score of 9-0 on Wednesday.
Freshmen Alex Beattie (Williamsport, Pa) and Bobby Brown (Montoursville, Pa.) each scored multiple wins in their singles matches. Beattie’s match resulted in a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Messiah’s Jonathan Siemen, while Brown fell 6-1, 6-1 to Nate Ipsen. Senior John Scarangello (Nazareth, Pa.) scored two wins before falling to Messiah’s Sam Shorts 6-0, 6-2. In other singles action, seniors Colin Baier (Montoursville, Pa.) and Jeremie Pierce (Gilsum, N.H.), and sophomore Michael Henao (Dover, N.J.) each fell 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, Brown and Beattie recorded three wins in an 8-3 loss to Siemen and Ipsen. Baier and Scarangello were defeated 8-0, while Pierce and Henao also fell 8-0.
The Warriors’ next contest is Saturday, April 12 when they host the Albright College Lions at 1 p.m.
