WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s tennis team (1-1, 0-1) was defeated by Elizabethtown (3-3, 1-0) on Wednesday at Bruce Henry Park by a score of 9-0.
No. 1 Bobby Brown (Montoursville, Pa.) and No. 2 Alex Beattie (Williamsport, Pa.) gave strong performances, but fell in their singles matches. Brown fell 6-2, 7-5 to Elizabethtown’s Brok Walker, while Beattie was defeated by Jeff Kirkhoff 6-3, 7-6. Warrior Colin Baier (Montoursville, Pa.) lost at No. 3 by a score of 6-1, 6-0, while John Stutzman (Williamsport, Pa.) fell 6-0, 6-3. At No. 5, John Scarangello (Nazareth, Pa.) lost 6-3, 6-1, while Jeff Morcum (Waymart, Pa.) fell 6-0, 6-2. Lycoming also dropped its three doubles matches to the Commonwealth Conference-leading Blue Jays.
The Warrior tennis team is back in action on Thursday at King’s, the match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
