WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s tennis team (1-0) defeated non-conference opponent Baptist Bible by a score of nine matches to none on Thursday at the West Branch Tennis Club. It was the first 2008 competition for the Warriors.
Bobby Brown (Montoursville, Pa.) defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-1, while Alex Beattie (Williamsport, Pa.) won successive sets 6-0, 6-0. Colin Baier (Montoursville, Pa.) topped Tom Davis 6-1, 6-2 and John Stutzman (Williamsport, Pa.) was victorious 6-4, 6-2. John Scarangello (Nazareth, Pa.) swept his opponent 6-0, 6-0, while Jeff Morcum (Waymart, Pa.) won 6-3, 6-1.
In doubles, the Brown/Baier team won 8-2, Stutzman and Beattie also won 8-2 and Scarangello and Morcum were victorious 8-1.
Lycoming’s next match will be on Wednesday, April 2 against Commonwealth Conference foe Elizabethtown at Bruce Henry Park in Williamsport.
