Mens soccer routs Pitt-Bradford 5-1

Frederick and CoatesWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team rebounded from two consecutive losses with a convincing 5-1 win over the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Chris Lorenzet and Zach Frederick each scored two goals in the game.

Lycoming (3-2-1) opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Frederick (West Chester, Pa.) headed a perfect pass from Tom McVey (Jamison, Pa.) into the upper right corner of the net.

The Warriors added a second goal in the 26th minute when freshman Randon Wilston (Mainesburg, Pa.) touched a long pass from Joe Pusateri (Rockville, Md.) over the Bradford keeper’s head. The goal was the first of his collegiate career.

The Panthers (1-5-1) battled back, scoring a goal in the 27th minute. Toby Abdul-Razaq fired a shot on goal that was saved by a diving David Bald (Annapolis, Md.), but the ball rebounded to the foot of Scott Pastorius, who notched his first goal of the season.

Lycoming added a third goal in the first half when Chris Lorenzet (Forest Hill, Md.) took the ball the length of the field and powered home an unassisted marker in the 35th minute. He continued his scoring streak in the second half, first assisting Frederick’s second goal in the 59th minute and then scoring his second of the day in the 77th minute.

The pair combined for 16 total shot attempts and 12 shots on goal, with Lorenzet posting nine total shots and seven on goal and Frederick registering seven total shots, five of which were on goal.

The Warriors peppered Bradford’s keeper with a season-high 18 shots on goal. The Panthers managed five shots on goal.

Lycoming held a definitive 39-8 advantage in total shot attempts and a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Bald was credited with the win after playing nearly 74 minutes and registering two saves. He was replaced in the 75th minute by senior Brian Marshall (Sayre, Pa.), who recorded two saves in the final 15 minutes of the game.

The Warriors used a total of 20 players in the contest.

Lycoming will host Keystone College this Saturday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m., as part of the College’s Family Weekend festivities.
