ANNVILLE, Pa. – David Bald and Chris Lorenzet were named Commonwealth Conference Players of the Week for their performances during the week ending Oct. 26.
Bald, a junior from Annapolis, Md., was named the Goalkeeper of the Week. He earned two wins in goal during the week. He allowed one goal on a penalty kick in a 3-1 win against Penn State-Berks on Oct. 21 and then tied the Lycoming record for shutouts in a single season when he recorded his ninth shutout, a 1-0 victory over league-leading Lebanon Valley on Oct. 25. He made four saves against the Dutchmen, who entered the game with a perfect 5-0 Commonwealth Conference record.
Lorenzet, a junior from Forest Hill, Md., was named the Player of the Week. He scored a goal and added an assist in the 3-1 win at PSU-Berks and then scored the game-winner against Lebanon Valley in a crucial conference match. His goals were his team-leading 12th and 13th of the season.
The men’s team has already secured a berth in the conference playoffs and can clinch at least a share of the regular season title with a win at Widener this Saturday, Nov. 1. With different scenarios, the Warriors could be as high as a number one seed (Messiah would have to lose during the week) and as low as a number four seed (Widener and Messiah win out).
Before the Widener game, the Warriors will host Lancaster Bible on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 3:30 p.m. That game will be broadcast by ESPN Radio.
